There is so much happening around here...and with little time, I thought I would just do a quick photo recap of the past couple of weeks...
girls shopping trip to SLC...
My parents took Grace and Shelby to the Jackson, Wyoming fiddle contest...the girls both took first place in their divisions again...
we found a pond filled with thousands of frogs and tadpoles...the kids have had a ball watching all of thier frogs and tadpoles grow...
I found another awesome old scale...
Russell started playing the mandolin...
slip and sliding on hot days...
theres always some form of art happening...Lily drew this picture of David and I...I just LOVE her little drawings. Except I can't figure out why she likes to draw earrings on David. I guess she just likes earrings. She drew me "really long pretty dangly earrings"(Russ is a great artist too)...
canning pickles (and stewed tomatoes)...
Lily and Kate have been playing together a lot...
almost every evening is spent working in the garden...
we went on a ride to visit Great Grandma Gardner's old house...we try to go there every year. I love seeing the house and thinking about memories from when I visited as a child...
visiting grandma Russell...
going with David to check his fields in the evenings...kids all piled in the back seat of the truck...windows down. It's one of my favorite things to do...
and when we go to check fields, there always ends up being some kind of "dare". On this particular day, Russ was dared to do a head stand on the canal bridge...Grace was dared to a cartwheel. Russ completed his dare right away. Grace was unsure, so dad had to tease her a bit...
we have eight...thats right...EIGHT new kittens in our chicken mansion. That is a total of 19 kittens this year (thanks for the extremely fertile cats Robyn ;). We have given several away, but we are going to have to find some homes for some of these new babies in a few weeks, so if you're local and interested, please email me at [email protected] and I can hook you up with some adorable free kitties... (on a funny note...Lily told me that all the kittens were boys this time. when I asked her how she knew, she turned them over and pointed to their long dried up umbilical chords...LOL!)
lots of time outside...
theres some sort of music happening every day. Shelby has been staying with us while my mom drives truck for us during grain harvest. She and Grace has been fiddling up a storm. There have also been rehearsals with Lindsey and their little "band" played at Paul's work picnic (which I didn't get pictures of :( I did, however, get this awesome photo of Shelby practicing in my living room with the back yard in the background...
We even managed to make it boating for the first time this summer...
and there you have it. About 20 posts combined into one. Hope you're enjoying whats left of your summer :)
