My grandma Russell called this morning and said she was flood irrigating her yard. The kids love to run through her yard when it's covered with water, so we put on their swimsuits and headed over. They had a great time running through grandma's yard and snacking on homemade cream puffs and ice cream cones.

Today

The weather was beyond beautiful...the past few days have been filled with nasty wind, so we were glad to wake up to calm breezes and not a wind storm! I had several errands I needed to run, but the kids begged me to stay home all day and not make them go anywhere. I gave in. They spent all morning riding their scooters around, blowing bubbles, and having fun outside in the 75 degree weather. I snapped some photos of the bees covering the trees in the front yard...they are blossoming and the bees are swarming the trees.

David started planting potatoes today. Kate was excited to go see dad in the field and go for a little ride...

She decided to play a game on my phone while dad had to stop and weld a repair on the planter...

We spent most of the afternoon raking and burning leaves and debris along the lane and around the slip and slide hill...

Grace was taking photos, and I guess Lily wasn't in the mood...LOL!!! (Yes...she's wearing her swimming suit...I'll tell you, she thinks it's full out summer now!)

You might think they're crazy, and I won't argue with you, but they talked grandpa into starting the slip and slide. I believe this is the earliest anyone has ever gone on the slide. It's fed with canal water, which comes from our river, which comes from MOUNTAIN SNOW RUN-OFF. Can I just say the water was FREEZING!!!! But they played on the slide for almost an hour!

Halloween 2011

It was a super low-key halloween this year. I'm so thankful for that. We avoided all the extra crap and only dressed up once...on Halloween night. The kids wore the same costumes as last year (except Russell who opted to wear his hunting gear instead), so it was really easy. It was actually really fun this year. Because of homeschooling, we spent most of the day carving pumpkins and making caramel popcorn treats to take to our grandparents, and we even sipped on hot chocolate and made some fun Halloween crafts together. In the afternoon, the kids got dressed up in their duds and we went trick or treating/visiting to all of their gradparents homes.

I just love my grandma Russell...she and I have always gotten along so well. She is so special to me. And in the second photo, great grandma and grandpa Hudman...

I think we are one of the luckiest families in the world. We have so many loving grandparents (even though we have lost three very special ones in the past couple of years), and they all live within 30 minutes of us. It's so great to be able to have a personal relationship with each and every one of them!

After visiting, we headed to Trunk or Treat at our church. Another plus...all of the Christensen cousins live in the same community as us, so all of our family is at the same Trunk or Treat. Look at all of these cute cousins...

When we carved Jack-O-Lanterns this year, we let Lily and Kate make their own. This was the first time they carved one by themselves. I mean COMPLETELY by themselves. I didn't help them at all! The one on the top right is Kate's and the bottom white one is Lily's. I love how Lily's mouth turned out! Grace made the CREEPY pumpkin and Russell carved the middle two. I thought they did a great job! They were so excited to see them all lit up on Halloween night...
