All Dressed Up for Easter

In the eleveth hour (I literally sewed Lily's skirt Saturday night before Easter), I was able to finish up dresses for my two littles. Grace sewed her own skirt this year (insert proud mama smile here), and Russ, well, he looked quite handsome as usual. And just look at how adorable (and big) they all are. I love these stinkers!

I had this vision for the girls' Easter dresses this year...I wanted to add some of my hand embroidery to the dresses, so I added a little apron to Kate's dress and to Lily's skirt.

and just look at this work of art! Grace sewed it for her 4-H sewing class! I'm so proud of her!

Baking Bread & My Bread Bag

I whipped up a batch of french bread this morning...besides eating the warm bread for lunch, I couldn't wait to use my bread bag I just finished. I often bake bread and store it in plastic baggies...but I wanted to make a drawstring bag to store my loafs in. I used one of my vintage tablecloths that had some small tears and stains on it, and then I embroidered on the bag after it was sewn together. Now I won't be wasting so many plastic bags, and it will also look prettier on my cupboard :)

Sewing Summer Tops...

I picked up some adorable vintage-looking fabric a few weeks ago, and have had plans to sew up some summer tops for my girls. Today it was really windy outside, and despite all of the other things I should have been doing inside, I decided to spend the day sewing. I finished these sweet little swing tops for Lily and Kate (Lily isn't pictured because her impromptu nap and the timing of my finishing the tops didn't work out so well). I used McCall's Pattern M6022...I picked up a bunch of patterns when Joanne's recently had all of their McCall's patterns for 99 cents. I'm forcing myself to learn to follow patterns...but as always, I did have to do things my way for a few of the steps...I guess it goes back to my issues with authority. I don't like being told what to do ;) And just for the record...I am not a seamstress...I'm still learning.

This is Lily's top...I can't wait to see her in it!
