Happening This Month:
This March has been one of the warmest I can ever remember. The abnormally warm temperatures have given as an early start on the farming season, but has also left us very dry and dusty in a month that should be muddy and wet. We have enjoyed the jump start of warm weather and have been able to not only work ground and plant our crops (spring wheat and barley), but to accomplish our spring yard work, garden work, and cleaning up and burning ditches and weeds on the farm. We bought a neighboring piece of property, dug and ran mainline from our pump, and put up a fence to create a nice pasture. We built a goat barn and moved our goats, Molly and Pedro, out of our yard and into the goat barn/pasture. We are looking forward to getting a few cows, and having the goats and cows graze the new property. Spring weather has also brought hot dog roasts, new baby chicks, greenhouse lettuce and yummy homemade salads, planting of seeds in the greenhouse for this years garden, planting peas in the garden, and lots of family time outdoors. I also decided that it was time to repaint our main living area upstairs (hallway, kitchen, living room and dining room). That was a huge job, and I'm thankful for help from my mom and David...I'm so glad to have it done! The kids finished their third quarter of school and all got excellent grades! I'm so proud of their hard work, but we are all looking forward to summer break. Russell finished his Jazz basketball season, but continues to play basketball in our front driveway constantly! Our little family band has also been busy rehearsing for a show we have at the end of March...and we even had a little house concert to rehearse. March has been good to us!
