Another local farm family had a litter of Border Collies, and we decided to take the plunge and get another pet for our children. June has been the best dog for our kids, and we are hoping that two Border Collies will mean even more fun. We surprised the kids...they didn't have a clue. They were busy working on their schoolwork when David and I mentioned we had to leave for a minute, but we would soon be back with a surprise. When we got home, I stepped out of the truck with the puppy in my arms...Grace must have been looking out the front window, because I instantly heard screaming! They all screamed the whole way to meet us in the garage. I think they scared the poor puppy with their excitement. They couldn't believe their eyes. They were so excited! Immediately they started discussing names, and we decided that May would be fun since our other dog is named June. I know that any dog would be lucky to be a part of our family. The kids have so much love to offer, they love June beyond words, and I know it won't be long until they feel the same about May. I love that June has accompanied them in all of their exploring around the farm, and I know that May will join right in the fun.
Today, the sun finally came out, and temperatures hit a whopping 10 degrees this early afternoon (I know it doesn't sound warm, but we've been having constant sub-zero temperatures for a few weeks). The kids couldn't wait to get all of their schoolwork finished and lunch eaten so they could go play with their dogs and play in the snow. They got all bundled up and headed out to play. May was a great sport. She followed them around for a while, and enjoyed plenty of cuddles and hugs. She eventually got sleepy and I had to bring her back to her dog house. She's going to have to muster up a lot of energy to keep up with my children :)
June is a little confused by May's arrival. She's curious yet jealous at the same time. The kids have been working really hard to make sure they don't let her feel left out.
May is very cooperative with Russell's need for puppy kisses. He puckers up, and May licks his lips...
I thought the ice cycles hanging off of the chicken coop were beautiful in the sunlight today. I can scarsely go outdoors...even during the dead of winter, without seeing some simple sight that alerts me to God's beauty.

I love your pictures. I miss my chickens.

You have such amazing pictures! Your kids are darling. I'm in a photography slump and am wondering what equipment you use. Also where did you get Grace's cute, modest swimsuits in your Hawaii post?
