Easter Weekend Recap...

In the name of saving time...I'm going to load this post with lots of photos, and few words. We all know that I'm better with photos than words anyways, so I'm sure you won't mind ;)

Planting Potatoes...

As a new farming season begins...I can't help but think about the miracle of it all. To see how quickly a cold, desolate field can be filled with life and a bountiful harvest in such a short amount of time. Each year seems to pass by faster than the last. Does this mean I'm starting to get old? It seemed that last year, the season between planting and harvesting went by in an instant...and here we are again, after a cold winter, planting the fields again. David and his father have about 550 acres of potatoes to plant, and even though the weather has caused them to get a late start this year, they were able to start planting yesterday. This means (once again) that I will be carting food to the field to feed the farmers who are unwilling to leave the tractor until the job is done (well, except for sleep). A job that in fact, I don't mind at all. I think I actually enjoy it :)

Apron Hooks...

I *adore* vintage textiles, fabrics and linens. One of my biggest collections is vintage aprons. I think I have about 50 of them. I love the soft old printed fabrics...they just don't make the fabric like they used to...and I love the way the fabric aged and faded with time, giving it the well-loved appearance. I have several hooks on my kitchen island where I display about 6 of my favorite aprons, but I wanted more space to display them (rather than keep them hid away in a drawer). I picked up a few hooks and had David screwed them to the end of my cabinets, and now they're loaded with some more of my favorite aprons...the pretty prints and colors make me smile :)

Fiddle Camp...

Just wanted to pass along this info to my local blog readers. My sister and two other local talented young musicians are putting together a day fiddle camp for youth. The contest will be held in Iona, Idaho  (near Idaho Falls) on May 14th and looks to be a great opportunity for young local musicians!

"I "own" a Stringed Instrument Music Camp is coming up on May 14, 2011 at the Iona City Center Building. It is a great local opportunity to learn from great young musicians in this area. You will learn valuable skills and fun tunes. The Instructors are very inspiring and are planning to teach some very fun fiddle tunes.This camp will be a great opportunity for you to learn team spirit and to see some very proactive people who will inspire you to use your initiative to do great things with your music! No Fiddling background is needed at all, as long as you know how to hold a violin we have a class for you! Not only do we have violin/fiddle classes but we are also teaching Guitar, and Mandolin classes for anyone who is interested (if you don't even know how to play, you are welcome) and we have a few extra instruments you can borrow if needed. Lunch is provided, along with all of your classes, and a fun name tag. Cost is $40 for violin/fiddle and $10 for each extra instrument.
