Pre-Halloween Festivities...

I swear that somewhere along the way, Halloween has become bigger than Christmas. There were so many things happening with church, school and community as far as Halloween goes...and then we add in our family traditions, and it is just a four day party! Here are some photos of some of our pre-Halloween activities... (Russ has been gone hunting with Dad and grandpa, so he missed out on some of the activities)

We were also planning to make some Halloween Sugar Cookies and go to the school PTO carnival, but my two little girls came down with the sickies...so we scratched those off the list. Luckily, they're feeling better so they can make it to Trunk or Treat tonight :)

On his mind...

Russ just recently got home from a week long hunting trip with daddy and grandpa on our relative's ranch in Montana...they visited a few outdoor shops and he apparently has his eye on a child sized gun. He walks in the door from being gone for a week and informs me that it is time for him to start working, because he has to earn some money. He found his dream hunting gun, and it is $159.99. Then, he spent the rest of the night drawing...apparently, he was inspired by the stores gun cabinet...

As you can see there is a Weatherby (wby) and a 30 O-6, his dream 4-10 and a pistol :)

Halloween Dresses...

I had to share the Halloween dresses and hair flowers my mom and I made for my girls...

I"Own"a Fiddle Contest...

The kids' fiddle group put together a local fiddle contest. The kids, along with their teacher, planned and organized the whole thing. They also raised enough funds to pay for the whole thing, so besides being a great contest, they learned a LOT! The contest was held in Iona, Idaho, so they named it the I "Own" A  (Iona) Fiddle Contest. I can't even express what a special day it was to see all of the wonderfully talented kids, and to see how they all support each other and have become such great friends. Grace won first place in her division, Lindsey got third in hers (and she won the Wee Fiddle Contest...they had to play mini violins), Shelby got second in her division as well as Champion of the Day and Musician of the day. I was so proud of not only "my" girls (Grace, Lindsey & Shelby), but of all the kids. I also have to take this opportunity to tell you about their teacher, Jacie Sites and her husband Joe. The things that they have done for fiddle music in our area are just amazing. I can't imagine a more class act couple. They are so talented, and when you see all of their students, there is no denying the skills and love of music that they are passing on to so many kids in our area. I want to let them know that we are so thankful for the things they have done for all of the kids around here.

Gathering Leaves...

I had a list of to-dos five miles long today...but the weather is beautiful, and I remember how long winter is. The girls and I decided to go for a walk and collect leaves for an art project. They were in heaven...gathering leaves and plants, finding a perfect walking stick and enjoying the beautiful fall day. I can't even begin to express my love for this beautiful time of year...
