My Crazy Life as a Farmers Wife

First Day of Preschool...

I'm here working in the silence of an empty home. No giggles...no fighting...no distractions... BUT, it's not as good as it sounds. I work better amongst chaos, and since the girls started preschool today, it is way to quiet for me to be productive. I've learned to work better with distraction, and when I am not constantly needed to fill up sippy cups, fill a baggie of goldfish, turn on a movie, take a ponytail out a dollie's hair, read a story book...I just don't know what to do with myself :)

The girls, however, were so excited that they could hardly stand themselves. They've missed Miss Kellie all summer and they couldn't wait to see her again...

My Baby Bee...

she's my baby sister. I'll never forget when she was born...I was sixteen years old, and even though it seemed a bit embarrassing to have my mom pregnant when I was that age, I am so glad that she timed it like she did. Even though she's my sister, she's more like a daughter to me. She's here to spend a couple of days with us before her summer break comes to an end. With honors classes, 15 violin/fiddle/guitar students she teaches, Youth Symphony and her music lessons and practice schedule, we won't get to have her around as much as we do in the summer time :( This morning was our last hurrah...and we had a nice little photo shoot because we haven't taken photos as much as we would have liked to this summer.

Rocky Mountain Regionals...

Grace turned nine years old on the 19th of August...and there was a fiddle contest she was looking forward too on August 21 in Casper, Wyoming. She begged us to take her...and we caved in. In fact, we decided to take the opportunity to get in a final family trip before the summer officially ended. We drove about 8 hours to Casper where Grace and Shelby (my parents took Shelby also) competed in the Rocky Mountain Regionals. Grace had a real eye opener this contest...she was used to being the top dog in the 8 and under category, and since she turned nine two days before the contest, this was her first time entering the junior junior division...which is ages 9-12. She played great, but she is going to need to work very hard over the next couple of years if she wants to compete with kids older than her :) Shelby (who entered a lot of divisions) took first place in the Junior division and first in guitar division, and in the talent division (she played the mandolin). She also got third place in the championship division.

First Day of School...

another summer has come and gone. The first day of school was yesterday. I was sad...but I'm not one of those parents that cry. I spent every waking hour of the summer with my kids...and we had a wonderful time...but now it's back to reality. I hate having them gone all day, but I am glad to know they are learning and growing :)
