lately about the fact that my little girls (well, all my kids for that matter), are growing up so quickly. It all seems like a blur...and I am not so happy about it. I've been sentimental and sad about the lack of babies in our house. Now don't get me wrong, I am done having kids, and it's wonderful to not have to worry about diapers and bottles...but I think I could have 10 more and never lose this feeling of sadness for them growing up. It's so cliche' to say "Oh...they grow so fast...", but it's so true. I am sooooo thankful for the OCD photography habits I have though, because it's so wonderful to look back at all the wonderful memories. And I have to say, that I equally enjoy looking back on my blog to see what we were up too a few years ago...I forget so much. I hope I can be a better blogger this year...
(sad just posting these pics...especially because I have so many recent pics of Lily and Kate, but not as many of Grace and Russ because they are in school all day and not home with their mama anymore)
Lily and Kate, January 2010-just some things i want to remember...
-they play like angels and fight like animals all in the same breath
-can never agree on a movie to watch, so they always watch seperate tvs. lily actually watches the whole movie while kate always needs to come and help mom.
-lily complains about everything i make to eat...and then she eats it all gone :)
-kate likes to clean. i will be busy working, and i will hear rumbling upstairs...i go to investigate, and she says "i was just gathering garbage mom". (gosh, wouldn't it be wonderful if this lasted???)
-i have started taking them to the library once a week during the day, and they are finally big enough to behave themselves at the library so we can go. they love it. they go for the computers first, and then the books. we are getting the activity boxes, and they are loving all of the file folder games
-they both love preschool, and even though they only go twice a week, they both ask if they have school every morning.
-they both like their classes at church. i amazed at the stuff they learn and actually repeat at home. some of it is just silly...and they use it out of context, but at least they are picking up on something. i can't tell you how many times lily talks about john the baptist...again, totally out of context. and when we were driving to boise to visit my sister last weekend, she yelled "theres the jordan river". when we were at my sisters, lily was riding in her car, and when they opened the door, her baloon flew out when she wasn't looking. she was so confused and kept looking all around. my sister explained to her that it had floated away up into the sky and she said "yeah, Heavenly Father will probably get it and pop it...my mom says he lives up in heaven".
-there is always an argument over who gets to bless the food. when kate prays, she ends with gaymen (LOL), and grace and russell try to correct her to saying amen, but lily yells, "it's gayman", not gaymen. i know that i should probably start working with them both on that...but i just giggle to myself. sometimes it's not fun to correct kids, cause they are only little once, and i like it when they have their own versions, and they don't feel the need to conform.
-kate has a problem with an elongated butt crack, because it hangs out of every pair of pants she wears. maybe we should start a new "dresses only" rule for her
-lily is attached to her glasses. after only a couple of weeks, she won't do a thing without them on. she puts them on first thing in the morning, and falls asleep with them on at night. i think she has finally realized what seeing is all about :)
-kate wants to go everywhere with mommy, and lily always says "do i have to go? can dad watch me?" she would rather stay home and chill.
