I know....I'm a bad blogger...
I know it's been a while...I am usually a very faithful blogger, but things have been a little busy around here, and besides that, I am trying to enjoy some summer activities with my kids in the little free time there is, so please excuse me for being such a bad blogger!
June 1st was my 28th birthday. My hubby took me to lunch and shopping, which was okay, until I slammed my fingers in a door...one of the nails turned all purple and lifted. I think I might be a wimp, because I was crying so hard that I didn't want to go shopping anymore. (maybe it was because I had makeup running all over my face). We went to my parents house for a hot dog roast and picnic that evening. Spending the evening outdoors (in the country) with my kids and some good food is about as good as it gets. It was a pretty good birthday (except for the fact that I am getting awfully close to 30).
When I got married, I knew that the most important thing to look for, was a family man. I wanted someone who had small town values, but was very easy going. When I met David, I found everything I was looking for. I can't imagine where life might have led me if I hadn't married him. I am soooooo thankful for several things...1) we live in the country, on a farm...I can't imagine living in town...especially in a neighborhood! 2) that we live by the mountains...nothing makes me happier than to see them every morning, and we can hop in the ranger and go for a picnic anytime. 3) that my husband is a farmer, and that my kids and I can go to work with him 4) that my family is able to spend time together, and find hapiness in each other...and that we don't need things like movies or arcades to entertain us 5) that my extended family (on both sides) is always together. Each of my husbands 4 siblings all live within 5 miles, and we get together all of the time. My two little sisters are always around to keep me company. Both sets of our parents are always there. Picnics, BBQs, birthdays...every day is a party when we are together. I am so thankful to have such wonderful people to hang out with. Family is the most important thing in my life. 6) that my husband is the funnest daddy ever...just look at what he built for us...
Now this is, the ULTIMATE SLIP & SLIDE. Grandma has always had a big piece of plastic going down the back hill of her lawn, but this year, David and Paul (my brother in law) had some big plans. They bought a 125 foot roll of white teflon for the slide. They worked hard with the back hoe smoothing a run down the hill and burried a drainage system and added a water spout at the top. The water comes right from the pump for the fields (out of the canal) and goes right back into the canal. It has a big catch pool full of water at the end, and it is a CRAZY ride. We haven't been able to get the kids off it the past few days. I am soooo thankful to have this awsome attraction right here at home. As I said before, i am a country girl, and there is nothing I hate worse than crowds of people, so my kids sometimes get mad at me because I hate public swimming pools and water parks. I just don't see what is enjoyable about waiting in line for hours to go down a slide, and having to be in a crowded pool with hundreds of other bodies. Now, with the slide, I don't have to worry about the kids complaining this summer! I can ride down a few times, and sit back and relax while the kids have a ball with their cousins...and not have to worry about them too much. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful husband who went to such work to make such a special thing for my kids.

That slide looks like SO much fun!!! Love that you have a full appreciation for family and farm life...very cool! As for nearing 30- don't sweat it! You don't look anywhere CLOSE to it and plus- you're young at heart- so just keep the "you're as old as you feel" mentality and you'll be FINE! ;) I'm going to be 33 at the end of July!

That has to be the coolest slip and slide ever! I bet my husband would like it as much as my kids if he built one. What a fun thing for the summer! I haven't been the best blogger either, lots going on this time of year.

That looks great!!! you are so lucky to live in the country...my father used to take us every weekend to the mountains and had picnics, those were great times. Now that we live in a very crowded city (Shanghai, PRC) I really missed all those things and I am really sad that my kids dont have such great opportunities to enjoy of the outdoors...hope in a short time we can go back home and enjoy some weekends away from the city...
