So we decided (very last minute) that we were going to hop in the motor home and head camping this weekend. The weather was beautiful and there weren't a lot of people, and it was great to get a little break. The kids had a blast playing in the creek...and luckily we took my lil sister Shelby along so that the kids had someone to play with. David and I even played in the water with the kids. We took a beautiful walk, ate some delicious food and played a lot of Phase 10. The last night there, we heard a THUMP early in the morning, and Russ had fallen out of his little bunk bed. We obviously didn't see him fall because we were all aspleep, but we think he hit the side of his head on the back of the bench at the kitchen table. He cried for a minute and then we got him to go back to sleep. When he awoke, he carried on like his normal self. We packed up and headed back home. Later in the afternoon, his face really started swelling. I wasn't too worried about it, because he acted totally normal, and hadn't complained or slowed down one bit. When my mom saw it, she made me take him to the doctor right away. The doctor checked him out and basically said that other than swelling, he looked and seemed fine. About an hour after I put him to bed last night, I went to check on him and noticed that his eye had swollen shut, and the swelling was continuing to increase. I spoke with our doctor and got him in for an appointment first thing this morning. To make a long story short, we ended up doing a head scan this afternoon because the doctor was so worried about his poor little noggin. Luckily, things turned out to be clear, but unfortunately, he is still very swollen. Silly kid. I don't think this is the last thing coming my way with this kid...he is CRAZY!!!! But I sure love him!
