Week in Review...

Here is a little share from our week...

Russell spent a lot of time in the tractor with his daddy. They finally finished planting all of the potatoes, and we are glad to be done. I snapped these photos of him leaving the tractor when I went to pick him up one evening. I love the look of pure satisfactions with a hard days work while leaving the tractor (notice him toting his empty spiderman lunch bag...which was FULL of goodies when he got into the tractor)...

And after picking him up from the field, we noticed the beautiful sky on the way home, and we had to stop and take a quick pic...

Russell broke off one of his training wheels, and he told me he didn't need them anyways, so I took the other one off. He instantly rode off like a mad man...

We spent a lot of time riding around with David and checking on the crops, pipes and pivots...

Grace had her spring Fiddle Jubilee Concert. We were so proud of her. She is one of the youngest students to finish the first Fiddle Method Book, and she played beautifully! I love this first photo of her practicing and Lily and Kate dancing along...

We went fishing one evening with my parents...

On Sunday morning (Mother's Day), I woke up and was working on some projects around the house. Kate was missing, and it was really quiet...this is what I found...

And for Mother's Day, we got to attend church with my parents, because my dad spoke during Sacarament. we then had a BBQ at their house, and Shelby and Grace provided some tunes for our enjoyment...

And here I am on Mother's Day with my sweet kids...I love them more than words could ever express. I am also very thankful for my mom & mother-in-law who are amazing...I hope they had a great Mother's Day!

After we left my parent's home, we went to the in-laws for another get together. The cousins spent the evening together running, riding bikes and playing in our grain fields...

I was lucky enough to take photos and also put together Ashley's (my niece) graduation announcements. It was easy, of course, because she is so beautiful and photogenic...

Weekend Recap...

What a beautiful weekend! The weather was great...and I am so thankful. I figure it's only fair to praise the nice weather when I always complain about the bad weather so much. We spent almost every minute outdoors. David is busy planting potatoes. I think we usually have them in the ground by now, but beacause it has been such a cold spring, we are running a little behind. We hope to finish planting this week. The kids and I worked in the yard a lot. We spent a lot of time raking and cleaning under trees and in corners, hauling branches and debris off in the Ranger and mowing the yard. I love working in the yard. It is one of my most favorite outdoor activities. Of course, it's a good thing, because when you're married to a farmer, you better be prepared to take care of your own yard. David rarely has time to work in the yard because it is his busiest time of year. Since daddy always works on Saturdays, we spent Sunday morning planting some new fruit trees in our orchard on the hill and planting special potato varieties in our garden. The kids and I planted onions, carrots, peas and beans this week also, so we are looking forward to gardening season. I can't wait for all of the fresh fruit and vegetables. On Sunday afternoon, we went to David's parents house for a BBQ for my brother in laws college graduation (CONGRATS PAUL!). The kids were enjoying their time outside, and they thought that it was the middle of summer with temperatures in the high 60's. We turned on the good old slip and slide (if you don't know about our slip and slide, go back and read this post from last year) to wash some of the dirt and debris away that has compiled over the winter. Pretty soon, the kids emerged with their swimming suits on. I told them they were crazy, and yes, they were crazy, because they went down several times and ended up wearing their swimming suits most of the evening. In true-to-me style, here are a BUNCH of photos to share from our weekend...

Russell's Birthday...

You'll have to forgive me, because once again, I had difficulities narrowing down the photos. Russ' birthday was yesterday, but we celebrated with family last Sunday. We had a picnic (and believe it or not, it was a warm and BEAUTIFUL day!). Russ loves being outside, so it was perfect...

Then, yesterday, we celebrated as a family with pizza and a birthday cake. A lot of you asked about his birthday cake...but I'll tell you it wasn't a "cute" cake. But it is to DIE FOR. Here is the recipe...

Sherelle's Creamy Coconut Cake

-1 White Cake Mix

-1 can sweetened condensed milk

-1/2 can coconut milk (you can find this by the Mexican food)

-Cool Whip

-Coconut

Mix and bake cake as directed in a 9x13 pan. While still warm, poke lots of holes all over the cake using a fork. Drizzle the whole can of sweetened condensed milk over the cake and then pour half of the coconut milk over that. Top with a tub of cool whip and then sprinkle with coconut. YUM! This is one of my favorite cakes on earth! You have no idea until you try...

Eww, I love that box to store fun baby memories...I might have to do that for my little guy. The hangers are darling as well, so many fun things, so little time! We adopted our son in July and I am a weirdo about keepsakes! I think its cause he is probs our one and only!! Gotta cherish every moment!
