Great Grandma Russell. Grandma came over today to pick up some fresh eggs from our laying hens. We love every chance we get to visit with grandma. She is someone who I really look up to. I love her so much. I enjoyed our visit today...however, I was heartbroken to hear about a phone scam that had her worried sick and ready to give away money yesterday. What is wrong with people? Why would a person ever prey on the elderly and try to scam them. It is just so sad. Her husband just died this summer, and and to think about some sick criminal trying to scam her makes me sick to my stomache. I am just so disgusted with the audacity of some of sick people in this world. You wouldn't want to be alone with me in a room if you scammed one of my grandparents...you would be sorry!!!!!

Snow Day. We finally got a nice storm that sent a few inches of snow. The children were beyond themselves with excitement! They spent a total of five hours playing outside today. It makes me so happy to see them enjoy one of nature's gifts...and to know how much they appreciate the simplicity of the outdoors.

Sour Cream. If you know me, you know that I just adore dairy products....cheese, milk, heavy cream, BUTTER!!! So much, that my dream is to have my own milk cow so that I can have fresh, raw milk and cream all the time. The only problem, is that a milk cow has to be milked twice a day, and I just don't have that dedication...so I'll just keep dreaming. Growing up, and to this day, I love sour cream on just about anything. I bought a new carton of heavy cream, not realizing that there was one hidden in the back of the fridge...and since I couldn't use them both up before they expired, I decided to try making my own sour cream (I had bookmarked it online a while back). So...since I love the homemade yogurt I make so much, I thought I'd give the sour cream a try! I have to leave it on the counter for 24 hours and then refrigerate before eating...so I hope it's as delicious as I hope it will be!

Playtime. This evening, while I was busy making dinner, the girls were busy entertaining guests. They had all of their stuffed animals set up for a delicious dinner at their little cafe. And yes, Lily is wearing her swimming suit. I guess you do what you have to do when you're a little kid dealing with a long Idaho winter ;)

Pinewood Derby. Russell had his very first Pinewood Derby for Scouts tonight. He and his dad enjoyed all of the time they spent together creating his car. He loved watching all of the cars race. He ended up getting ninth place, but was voted to have the coolest looking car. It was a great experience!!!

Buddies. It has been a cold, blustery day today. I think the winter storms are finally starting to head our way. Despite the cold, Grace and Russell wanted to get outside to practice a little basketball after all of their schoolwork was done. They are playing on a local kids league, and they are anxious to get more practice dribbling and shooting the ball. They're braving the weather to shoot a few hoops. Of course, June follows Russell everywhere he goes, and poor Russ has to share the ball with June. She wants to be a part of everything he does :) They are best buddies...June is very partial to Russell. She wants to do whatever Russ does.
